Most
authors, whether they realize it or not, promote a cause or
make a statement through their writing. Hidden within the
pages of almost any book, you may find a character that supports "Mothers
Against Drunk Driving" or makes a strong statement against plastic
surgery. Or, the main character of a novel may be an "environmentalist"
or an "animal lover."
Let's face it--most authors have something to say and their
book is their platform. Well, why not also put some financial
backing toward that platform? Why not give back to the community and
help further the causes that you write about?
I'm an author myself. My most recent books discuss the spiritual principles
of inner peace & world peace. At the time my second book was released,
I heard about the genocide going on in Darfur and I felt helpless
to do anything. Then I realized that I could donate a portion of the
proceeds from my book sales to organizations that were really working
to make a difference in Darfur. (See below about book and organizations....)
Then, of course, I realized that MANY authors would love to
donate proceeds from their books to organizations they feel strongly
about.
I also realized that most CONSUMERS love to read and would
feel great if they knew they were ALSO helping a cause through their
purchase.
Thus, I came up with bookwithamission.com.
But my mind, didn't stop there. I realized that many musicians feel
strongly about issues, as well as artists and movie producers!
So I decided to create a web presence where authors, musicians,
artists and movie producers can sell their product(s) and declare
that 10% of the proceeds will go to an organization of their choice.
(We'll help you pick an organization, if you don't have one
in mind).

that you would like to promote on this site, and have an organization
in mind that you would like to see benefit from the sales, please

I am working out the details now, and will send you more information
as it becomes available.
But basically, my company Peaceful
Earth, LLC will act as a non-exclusive distributor. You will still
be able to distribute your product(s) on your own or through other
distributors.
You will benefit from the internet marketing and web presence I plan
to create. So basically this site will be ANOTHER VEHICLE
to sell your product AND GIVE BACK to the community!

place where CONSUMERS can feel good about their purchases, knowing
a portion of the proceeds benefit worthwhile organizations.
I also wanted to create a web presence where the CONSUMER
could go to purchase materials and know that their money was going
toward organizations that had a positive impact in the world.
For example, I believe that if consumers had a choice of whether to
purchase the book Marley & Me : Life and Love with the World's
Worst Dog from Costco, Amazon or this web site knowing that 10%
of the profits from the purchase of the book on this site would benefit
say, the Humane Society of the United States, that they would choose
to purchase the book from this site.
Though, the consumer has to know about this option for it to be viable.
That primarily involves internet marketing and word of mouth.
My vision is for the "mission sites" to be as visible as
CD BABY or Amazon.com.
